Clinton Avenue (Huntsville)

The City of Huntsville will add bicycle lanes and improved sidewalk with upcoming roadway project.
Lowe Mill (Seminole Avenue and 9th Street) (Huntsville)
Status: Pre-Design
Likely Construction Completion: 2021
The City of Huntsville will add buffered bicycle lanes and sidewalk, with portions of sidepath, through section near Lowe Mill.
Governors House Drive (Huntsville)
Status: COMPLETE
Construction Completion: 2019
The City of Huntsville completed an in-roadway shared-use path.
Redstone Gateway Phase II (Huntsville)
Status: Design
Likely Construction Completion: 2020
The City of Huntsville is adding bike lanes on Governors West to Cabela Dr; then a shared-use path through the Cabela’s development and Lake 5 to Madison Pike. At Madison Pike, a pedestrian-activated signal will be provided to get users across to Research Park.
Zeirdt Road (Huntsville)
Status: Under Construction
Likely Construction Completion: 2021
The City of Huntsville is adding a shared-use sidepath along the west side of Zierdt Road, as incidental upgrade with Zierdt Road widening
Town Madison (Madison)
Status: Under Construction
Likely Construction Completion: 2020
Town Madison (Breland Companies) and the City of Madison are working together to add a shared-use sidepath on the north side of the main road through Town Madison.
Old Hwy 20 (Huntsville)
Status: Design
Likely Construction Completion: 2021
The City of Huntsville is adding bike lanes with widening project of Old Hwy 20.
Rockhouse Bottoms Road (Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge)
Status: Existing
Likely Construction Completion: Unknown
This existing dirt/gravel road along the Tennessee River is already open to bicyclists and pedestrians. The roadway surface will ultimately be improved with the addition of trail amenities.
Arrowhead Landing Road (Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge)
Status: Existing
Likely Construction Completion: Unknown
The existing dirt/gravel road (Arrowhead Landing) is already open to bicyclists and pedestrians and is a popular location for paddlers. The roadway surface will ultimately be improved with the addition of trail amenities.
BUILD grant (Decatur) – Hwy 20 Interchange
Status: Design
Likely Construction Completion: 2021
This project was awarded a rare federal BUILD grant and will include an overpass over Hwy 20. The cross section will include shared-use paths along roundabouts on either side and a shared-use path across the overpass.
Decatur ferry (Decatur)
Status: Design
Likely Construction Completion: 2020
The City of Decatur is working with a boat operator to implement a ferry from Rhodes Ferry across to the marina.
Swan Creek trailhead (Athens)
Status: Acquisition/Design
Likely Construction Completion: 2020
The City of Athens received an ADECA grant to construct a trail extension under US 72 and a trailhead on the south side of US 72.
Swan Creek Greenway (Athens)
Status: Existing
Likely Construction Completion: N/A
The City of Athens features the existing crushed-gravel Swan Creek Greenway that is open to bicyclists and pedestrians. This will become part of the greater Singing River Trail.
